Prototyping a tutorial

Concept! 

We have been tasked with creating a new level in UE4. this level will ultimately never be finished and will be missing its central gimmick. however, this level will be a stepping stone to get me refamiliarized with Unreal and Greyboxing levels. so the idea I have is to make a Tutorial level for a game. a basic obstacle course where the player would familiarize themselves with a brand new mechanic, in this case, it would have been an ability to hover.

Inspiration

At the time of writing, I had just beaten the main story for Psychonauts 2. many 3D platformers like Psychonauts provide safe spaces to test out new abilities before introducing an aspect of danger. another inspiration was my own works of writing. if this level were to be a real game, it would be set in a school for magic users, the upgrade that allows the hover would be a magic umbrella. this would be the tutorial level where the main character gets her primary weapon and unique means of traversing levels.
