In the long ago, after the establishment of America, the supreme court was founded, given power by the constitution, to judge the actions of the people by the constitution, and interpret the constitution. the first big act that the Supreme Court did was to strike down an opinion of the congress in the case of Marberry vs madison. this ruling solidified their power and reinforced their position in the government of America.

every one of the amendments to the constitution is a direct result of a supreme court ruling. the court has that much power. without the court, the president and the congress can trample over the rights given to us by the founding fathers.
